Introducing the 'Golden Karma Awards' for outstanding individuals...
ARIZONA-BASED NONPROFIT INAUGURATES ANNUAL NATIONAL CELEBRITY PHILANTHROPY AWARDS PROGRAM

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (August 26, 2005) - In recognition of extraordinary commitment and support to public service and social responsibility, Annette Marino, founder and executive director of Success For Good, announces the creation of the Golden Karma Awards, an annual program honoring seven to ten nationally known celebrities who are worthy role models to be emulated by others. This will be the first ever awards program honoring philanthropic actions of celebrities across a variety of nonprofit causes.

"A local selections committee nominates and chooses nationally recognized, selfless individuals in entertainment, music or sports who have provided their support to better society," says Marino. "Celebrities have a broad reach in helping to gain attention and inspire others to give back in their communities," she adds.

The Golden Karma Awards has two categories. The Celebrity Philanthropy category, made up of national celebrities, will recognize contributions made to assist with a variety of issues, including health, environment, children, education, social welfare, animals and arts and culture. Nominees will be evaluated with particular attention to the beneficiaries of their activities and the impact of their initiatives. The Community Philanthropy category will be presented to two local high profile community leaders, recognizing them for their generosity and philanthropic contributions locally.

Celebrity Philanthropy Timeline: In early October, the Celebrity Philanthropy nominees will be announced. In early December, the celebrity honorees will be announced and will receive their statues.

Community Philanthropy Timeline: In September, the Community Philanthropy honorees will be announced. On November 2, they will receive their award at Debbie Gaby's Catwalk For Charity Celebrity Fashion Show & Luncheon at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa, where Al Molina will unveil the elegant gold statue, designed and created by Molina Fine Jewelers.

Some suggested nominees in the Golden Karma Awards for Celebrity Philanthropy category are:
  • Randy Johnson (Children's Issues)
  • Bruce Willis (Children's Issues)
  • Paul Newman (Social Welfare)
  • Bono (Social Welfare)
  • Sandra Bullock (Social Welfare)
  • Oprah Winfrey (Social Welfare)
  • Leonardo DiCaprio (Environment)
  • Bob Barker (Animal Issues)
  • Betty White (Animal Issues)
  • Elizabeth Taylor (Health Issues-AIDS)
  • Katie Couric (Health Issues-Colon Cancer)

  • Muhammad Ali (Health Issues-Parkinson's)
Sponsors for this year's Golden Karma Awards presentation are Rowland Companies/Rowland Luxury Homes, KPNX Channel 12, Molina Fine Jewelers, Blacktie, LLC and Blacktie-Arizona.com.

Because the Golden Karma Awards initiative is a program of Success For Good, a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit sector, 100% of all proceeds will benefit nonprofit causes. The award honorees will choose the beneficiaries of all proceeds to be shared.

Stay tuned for next year's event and related activities in December 2006-to be televised nationally at a Valley destination resort, with local and national sponsorship involvement, to include:
