SUCCESS FOR GOOD' ANNOUNCES EIGHT HONOREES FOR ITS 2005 GOLDEN KARMA AWARDS FOR CELEBRITY PHILANTHROPY
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (December 1, 2005) - In recognition of extraordinary commitment and support to nonprofit causes and social responsibility, Scottsdale-based nonprofit organization Success For Good has chosen the eight honorees for the 2005 Golden Karma Awards for Celebrity Philanthropy.
From its original list of 18 nationally recognized celebrity nominees who are role models committed to social responsibility, the Selections Committee tallied its final votes. The honorees were all just notified that they were carefully chosen recipients of the magnificent Golden Karma Award.
The 2005 honorees for the Golden Karma Awards for Celebrity Philanthropy are:
- Angelina Jolie (Humanitarian Aid)
- Paul Newman (Children's Issues)
- Bob Barker (Animal Issues)
- Elizabeth Taylor (AIDS Issues)
- Katie Couric (Cancer Issues)
- Muhammad Ali (Parkinson's Issues)
- Robert Redford (Environment)
- Harry Connick, Jr. (Hurricane Katrina Recovery)
"Celebrities have such a broad reach in helping to gain attention and inspire others to give back in their communities," says Annette Marino, chairman and founding director of Success For Good. "It's touching to see the dedication and philanthropic actions of the nominees. Narrowing down the list to eight honorees from this year's list of extraordinary nominees turned out to be extremely challenging. We've already received many suggestions for additional 2006 nominees, so the televised Awards ceremony next year promises to be an exciting event."
