SUCCESS FOR GOOD' ANNOUNCES 2006 GOLDEN KARMA AWARD HONOREES FOR COMMUNITY PHILANTHROPY

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (November 15, 2006) - Two local Valley leaders and role models, committed to social responsibility in our community, were selected to receive the 2006 Golden Karma Awards December 2nd at the gala awards ceremony to be held at the Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center. Portions of that evening's event will be nationally televised later in December.

"Don Henninger (Corporate Leadership category) & Bob Machiz (Individual Leadership category,)" are two outstanding community leaders in the Valley, who have been generous donors of their time and resources to several nonprofits over the years and have helped make a positive impact on many lives," says Annette Marino, chairman and founding director of Success For Good, a Scottsdale-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the nonprofit community. "Because of their influence as positive role models, our nominating committee selected both honorees."

Don Henninger, Publisher of the Phoenix Business Journal, has been a Valley newsman for 24 years and is very active in the community. He is a member of Greater Phoenix Leadership and is on the boards of the Phoenix, Scottsdale and Arizona chambers of commerce. He is board chairman HomeBase Youth Services, and sits on the boards of the United Way, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, Phoenix Theatre, ASU Cronkite Journalism School Endowment board, The US Airways Education Foundation and Delta Dental Foundation, among others.

Under his direction, the Business Journal partners with the Maricopa Volunteer Center to promote corporate volunteerism; partners with Junior Achievement to sponsor the Hall of Fame dinner and to be a part of the Exchange City program, which teaches youths about business principles and entrepreneurship; runs monthly Non-Profit profile, which provides information on non-profit groups in the Valley, their mission and needs and info on their leadership, (partners with US Airways on this); works with National Association of Women Business Owners to offer low-cost advertising options for their members and sponsors their programs to encourage development and career success for women business owners; supports scores of non-profit organizations and causes in the paper via pro-bono advertising, giving them exposure to a key segment of the Valley's community.

He is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Don and his wife Dana live in Scottsdale.

Bob Machiz, CEO Weight Watchers Arizona, moved to Arizona in 1966. He has contributed to numerous charities throughout the Valley. They include: Phoenix Theatre, Phoenix Suns Charities, March of Dimes, Celebrity Fight Night, Founder's Night, Scratch & Sniff, Childhelp, HomeBase Youth Services, Night Hoops, American Heart Association, SAARC, Breast Net, American Cancer Society, IFADD, Arizona Foundation for Woman, & Debbie Gaby's Catwalk Luncheon.

Bob graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Brooklyn College. He and his wife Carole live in Paradise Valley.
