MARK STEINES CO-HOST OF "ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT" SIGNS ON FOR 2006 GOLDEN KARMA AWARDS NATIONALLY TELEVISED GALA
Scottsdale, AZ - (September 25, 2006) - Mark Steines, co-anchor of CBS Paramount Domestic Television's "Entertainment Tonight," the #1 syndicated entertainment newsmagazine on television, has agreed to serve as Host of the 2006 Golden Karma Awards, a program which acknowledges celebrities for their philanthropic efforts. The televised show will be taped at the Scottsdale Resort & Conference Center on December 2nd, and aired nationally during the holidays.
During his 11 years with "Entertainment Tonight" Steines has had many unique opportunities including flying cross-country with John Travolta, going behind the scenes on a remote island location of "Survivor," and interviewing just about every "A" list star one can imagine on the red carpet. A five-time Emmy nominee and three-time Emmy winner, Steines was also named as one of People magazine's sexiest men in 2004. His exclusive one-on-one interviews and first-on-the-scene reports have made him one of the most respected co-anchors in the entertainment news industry. Steines' latest venture is as Host of the new groundbreaking interactive, on-line and reality TV show called "Gold Rush," created by Mark Burnett.
"I am thrilled to be asked to host the Golden Karma Awards," said Steines. "It's great to be a part of something that gives recognition to individuals and the charities that are making a real difference in this world."
Annette Marino, Golden Karma Awards creator and Executive Producer, explained why Steines was a natural choice as Host. "Because of his years of experience in covering celebrity news he knows and appreciates those who are sincerely passionate about causes. If you couple that with his ease in interviews with his national audience appeal, we think Mark is perfect in helping us achieve our primary purpose - that of influencing the viewers to take action, as the Honorees have done, to support philanthropic causes in their community," commented Marino.
The Golden Karma Awards is produced by Success for Good (

Sponsors of the 2006 program include: Rowland Luxury Homes, BMW North Scottsdale, Clear Channel Radio, Sleep America, ITEM Magazine, So Scottsdale Magazine, Molina Fine Jewelers, Cox Media, Patron Tequila, KPNX-TV/Phoenix (Channel 12, NBC) and Blacktie-Arizona.
