A whirlwind of activity swirled around the much anticipated unveiling of the Golden Karma Awards statue!

Tuesday evening, November 1st, the Founding Board of Regents was treated to a members-only cocktail party and private Award unveiling at contemporary lounge SIX in Scottsdale. The beautiful Award statue, designed by Molina Fine Jewelers, exceeded the expectations of those in attendance, and that compliment has been repeated hundreds of times as guests at Debbie Gaby's Catwalk for Charity on November 2nd were treated to the public unveiling of the Award. Jimmy Walker, founder of Celebrity Fight Night and Susan Karis, SVP of Clear Channel Radio, were presented their Awards at this event also, as the 2005 Phoenix Community Philanthropy Honorees.

The Award was the focus of a Community Spotlight segment on NBC Channel 12 on November 3rd. Annette Marino, chairman and founding director of Success For Good, the producers of the Golden Karma Awards initiative, was joined by Al Molina, CEO of Molina Fine Jewelers for the interview. The segment includes scenes from the private unveiling on November 1st. Click here to view the video segment, streamed by AZCentral.com.

According to Marino, "There are some very specific meanings associated with this design, especially since there is no universal symbol for the universally recognized word, "Karma". Many people speculated that the Award would be all yellow gold, but "golden" has many elements and the three colors of gold remind us of the diversity of humanity and of philanthropy. The shape reminds many people of fire or flame, and fire is generated by the release of energy, which is also required for any action to take place, ad at its foundation, karma means action. Fire or flame can also represent passion and passion is what drives philanthropy. It also reminds many people of a multi-dimensional representation of infinity, which is certainly a component of karma...what goes around comes around...and the three strands can represent past, present and future actions as part of the infinity symbolism...so yes, there are many subtle meaning woven into this fabulous design!"

"Of course, it was important that the Award be designed by someone who is well known for their community support, such as Al and his design team at Molina Fine Jewelers, and someone world-renowned for their designs as this Award will be displayed by our wonderful local Community Philanthropy Honorees, as well as in the homes and offices of our national Celebrity Philanthropy Honorees, to be announced at the end of this month," continued Marino.
